Iran launches massive attack on US military base!
The war between Iran and the US has reached another dangerous stage. International media are reporting that Iran has launched a ballistic missile attack targeting a very important American and British military base in the Indian Ocean called Diego Garcia.
The importance of the Diego Garcia base
This military base is located in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, and it is a strategically important center for the US and Britain. Heavy bombers and reconnaissance aircraft are operated from this base for operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East. Although its isolation far from normal war zones is considered one of its main advantages, Iran has challenged that safe boundary.
This base is located about 4000 kilometers from the Iranian coast. American officials say that Iran has used two Khorramshahr-4 liquid-fueled medium-range ballistic missiles for this attack. However, both of these missiles did not reach their target and one of them was deactivated in the air, and the other was tried to be destroyed by an anti-missile system called SM-3 by a US Navy warship.
Earlier, Iran had stated that the maximum range of their missiles was only 2000 kilometers. But with this attack, Iran has proven to the world that it is capable of hitting targets more than 4000 kilometers away. The most dangerous situation here is that a distance of 4000 kilometers means that even major European cities like Paris and London are at risk of an Iranian missile attack.
America’s next step
In a context where US President Donald Trump is further expanding American military operations against Iran, Iran’s expansion of its attack limits has shocked the international community. The US has already deployed thousands of its naval fleets and Marines to the Middle East region. Comment below what you think will be a turning point in world politics.
