Born on March 3, 1987, to a Balochistan family in Pakistan, Muniba grew up in a very traditional background.
Since childhood, her special talent was drawing. She wanted to become an artist, but fate had chosen a different path for her.
In the social system of that time, the space for a girl to pursue her dreams was limited.
The first break in her life came with her forced marriage at the age of 18.
In that marriage, which took place against her father’s wishes, the freedom and artistic dreams she had as a young woman were buried there.
Muniba’s life turned upside down in 2007. At the age of 21, she and her husband were in a serious car accident.
After spending several months in a hospital bed, the doctors gave her some dire decisions.
They said that due to the damage to her spine, she would never be able to walk again, and she would never be able to become a mother. While she was in the hospital bed, her husband also left her, leaving her alone.
While many people give up hope in life in such a situation, Muniba chose a different path….
She picked up a paintbrush while still in the hospital bed.
She decided to turn what she had been told ‘no’ into ‘yes’. She took a paintbrush with bandaged hands and painted her pain and hope on canvas. She turned her pain into colors. She said, “I only felt alive when I was painting.” Her paintings revealed her pain and hope to the world.
That was the first step to her victory. Through those paintings, she gained the attention of the world, and today she is recognized as one of the most talented artists in Pakistan.
Muniba’s life journey was not limited to a wheelchair. She overcame many challenges and made history by:
* UN Ambassador: She was the first female ambassador for Pakistan to be appointed as UN Women.
* First wheelchair model: She was the first Pakistani woman to enter the modeling industry while in a wheelchair.
* Host and singer: She has showcased her talents as a television host as well as a talented singer.
* Motherhood: As an answer to the world that told her she could not have children, she decided to adopt a small child.
